Fewer, better pages: comparisons by reason, quarterly report, resident threshold lowered

Comparison pages now exist only where two cities share a state, sit near each other or have similar rent; the rest are covered by the side-by-side table. State pages open at three cities. ZIP pages stay linked but out of the sitemap until they earn a place. The statistics are frozen each quarter into a report with a permanent link per finding. Resident figures show from three reports, marked low confidence under five. Two percentage sentences and a plural were corrected, and the build now refuses to publish a page that fails its checks. New cities arrive twice a week instead of twice a day.

Nashville, TN and Portland, OR joined the site with the same sourced data as every other city: HUD rents near downtown and metro-wide, Census, EPA walkability, FCC internet, transit fares, NOAA weather, EPA air, FEMA hazards, breweries and local menu prices. Comparison pages against nearby and similar cities were added.

Headline rent now describes the area near downtown

Readers pointed out that the cheapest metro-wide rents often belong to far-out, less walkable areas. Every city now leads with HUD's Small Area Fair Market Rent for the ZIP codes within 2 miles of downtown, the same circle the walkability score uses, with the metro-wide figure and the gap between them shown beside it. Rankings, comparisons and the budget calculator use the new figure; the calculator can still budget on the metro-wide rent.
